The season 2 premier clocked 4.2 million average viewers, while the season 3 premiere clocked 4.4 million viewers. According to TorrentFreak, Game of Thrones Season 3, Episode 1 became the number one swarmed download of all time, measuring over 160,000 files being shared within hours of the premier.
It is obvious that Game of Thrones was highly anticipated. The series has had high success over the three years it aired on HBO. HBO has even noted that the piracy of their show hasn't hurt their sales at all. Season three offers the next step in the adventure to rule the seven kingdoms.
